The painters and decorators have been in at the Bedlington Learning Hive – making the property even more welcoming to the local community.
This year has been the busiest ever at the hive – with its specialist staff from the Northern Learning Trust charity helping more local people than ever seize new employment opportunities through training and educational support.
Bernicia is proud to support the two valuable learning hives which both operate out of our properties – one in Bedlington Station and one in Newbiggin.
They are both established as important community resources. Bernicia is committed to investing in local communities and neighbourhoods and has pledged £2m to help people access opportunities to find work through its new employability team.
The hive’s play a hugely valuable role in upskilling local people, giving them the self-confidence to gain employment and fulfil their potential through new qualifications and training programmes.
Painters and decorators courtesy of our friends at Trident property maintenance services carried out the work free of charge at the Bedlington Learning Hive as part of its social value programme.
A big thanks to them and to volunteer Bob Bell whose green-fingered skills continue to nurture plants and vegetables in the Bedlington Learning Hive community garden – produce which is shared with local people.
In this financial year to date, the Bedlington Learning Hive has:
- Registered 120 new learners
- Welcomed an average of 40 to 50 people per month – to a total of 847 support sessions
- Given 99 people employability support
- Helped 20 people achieve accredited qualifications
- Supported three people to secure full-time jobs
- Supported three people to gain part-time employment
- Helped one learner move into a better job and one learner make the move into self-employment
The freshly redecorated Bedlington Learning Hive will be open again to help the local community from next Monday October 9th, 9.30am to 4pm in Burnside, Bedlington Station, NE22 7JH. Tel: 01670 824940.
